Our Story – TE Media & Design
Emily and Tara met through the Media and Communications Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber, where their friendship blossomed as quickly as their passion for photography and media. Between classes, they would often take tea breaks, turning a simple beverage into a moment of inspiration and connection.
With degrees in Media and Communications and diplomas in Media Communications in hand, they found themselves standing at the edge of possibility, wondering “What next?” Tara was eager to dive into videography and photography, while Emily felt drawn toward the world of graphic design and marketing. United by their love of both tea and media, they decided to bring their talents together to create TE Media & Design, a brand that embodies their shared vision of creativity and connection.

Co-founder // Graphics & Motion Designer
Emily (who uses they/she pronouns) is a creative with a love for nature, LGBTQ+ advocacy and a passion for graphic design. They’ve been drawing and animating since they were young and have an exceptional talent for visualizing abstract concepts. Emily was born and raised in Peterborough and has a finger on the pulse of the community.
As a multimedia professional, Emily has worked as a Jr. Creative Associate at AB Solutions where they’ve gained experience designing brands, including logos, and building websites. Emily has also worked as a Corporate Communications Assistant for Peterborough County and as a Graphic and Motion Designer for Verto Health.

Tara has been a photographer since age 12. Her fascination with photography evolved, along with a growing interest in videography, into technical excellence. Through education and personal study, Tara has developed a strong understanding of the processes needed to create striking imagery.
As a multimedia professional, Tara has worked as a Production Assistant for EastRidge Church running their weekly live streams, aiding in the development of a new streaming system, and creating various video and graphic marketing content. She also worked at the Media Cage, a media equipment lending library, where she developed a deeper understanding of the equipment and how to troubleshoot various technical problems.
